I’m a lipstick junkie. I love all makeup, but it’s lip products that take the most space in my makeup dresser. So when I received this Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Nude Lip Kit, I was so excited!! Look how cute!
This set includes six lippies from different brands. It’s supposed to be a nude lip set, but looking at the products, they seem more on the mauve and light pink side to me.
- Marc Jacobs Beauty Le Marc Lip Creme in Slow Burn
- Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Honeycomb
- Buxom Full-On Lip Cream in White Russian
- Urban Decay Vice Comfort Matte Lipstick in 1993
- Too Faced Melted Matte Liquified Matte Long Wear Lipstick in Queen B
- Estee Edit the Barest Contour Lip Liner in the Buff
Swatches and First Impressions
Marc Jacobs Beauty Le Marc Lip Creme in Slow Burn
This comes in mini size in this set. It glides on super smooth and creamy. A soft, neutral pink, but definitely not nude. Quite opaque – medium to full coverage. A keeper!
Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick Honeycomb
The color is more beige with a cool, pinkish undertone. I would say this is the only real nude in this set (at least for my skin tone). Formulation is also really creamy and also medium to full coverage.
Buxom Full-On Lip Cream in White Russian
Not a fan of this one. Consistency is pretty thick and it barely has pigment. I didn’t even bother swatching it on my lips anymore. It’s a ultimately just a gloss, really, and I don’t do gloss because I already have naturally full lips (glossy lips look fuller). This has a substantial shine so if you want to plump your lips up, then this will do the job. It has a slight menthol/cooling sensation when applied.
Urban Decay Vice Comfort Matte Lipstick in 1993
The darkest shade in the bunch. This is a cool brown shade and it glides on smoothly. It’s supposed to be matte, but as you can see there’s some sheen to it. It’s definitely not nude for my skin tone (it’s pretty dark!), but I like how it looks on me. Would like it even more if it were a true matte!
Too Faced Melted Matte Liquified Matte Long Wear Lipstick in Queen B
My favorite from this set! Again, also not a nude; it’s a gorgeous neutral pinkish mauve that I think would look good in most skin tones. This doesn’t dry out your lips like most liquid lippies and doesn’t dry too matte (that it cracks).
Estee Edit the Barest Contour Lip Liner in the Buff
This matches the natural color of my lips almost perfectly!! I want to love it so much, but I just wish it glided on easier and that it would stop breaking when I apply it. If it were easier to work with and were a little bit more pigmented, this would easily be one of my top lippies ever! It’s matte and good to have for those no makeup-makeup days.
Overall, I think this set is not bad to have in your kit. However, if you ask me I would purchase again only at most 3 out of the 6 in the set (Marc Jacobs, Bite, and Too Faced).
